Realising that modernising an old crane is a good alternative to the capital outlay involved in a new one, Nissan called in East Kilbride Crane experts, Konecranes UK.

Realising that modernising an old crane is a good alternative to the capital outlay involved in a new one, Nissan called in East Kilbride Crane experts, Konecranes UK.

The Konecranes modernisation team will work on an existing crane in Nissan's Sunderland Press Shop where they will replace the existing hoist mechanism and trolleys with a Konecranes SM Spacemaker winch and DynAHoist and DnAC technology.

This will bring the hoist mechanism to an M7 duty classification.

As an expert and pioneer in modernisation, Konecranes UK is capable of modernising cranes of highly different types and vintage.

With technology developing all the time, the machinery and motors used today are smaller and more powerful than before.

This means that they can be fairly easily fitted into old crane structures.

Speaking of their success with a wide range of modernisation projects, managing director of Konecranes UK, Gordon Adie said, "With our knowledge and advanced technology we can modernise practically all crane types.

Many of the original manufacturers no longer exist and we can work with these as well as current competitor models.

Depending on the situation and the scope of the required work, my team can modernise a crane for 30 - 70% less than it would cost to purchase a brand new one.".
