East Kilbride overhead crane manufacturer Konecranes UK has won another order to supply its renowned SMD Goliath design to the CTR 240 project.

The order, placed by the joint venture grouping of Costain, Skanska and Bachy, is for 2 Goliath cranes to operate in one of their CTR concrete construction yards.

Both will be SMD Spacemaker Goliaths, one 30 tonne and the other 20 tonne, built to M6 duty specification.

Each will have 20 metre spans with 5 meter cantilevers and an array of Konecranes state of the art technical components.

These will include: DynAC on travel and traverse, DynAHoist with ESR on the main hoists; cabin on the trolleys; wind speed indicator with alarm; motor and brake rain covers; long travel auto alarm with special switch-off feature and alarms fitted for overweight and operating limits.

The two Goliaths will operate on the same track with an adjustable anti-collision mechanism to keep them 20 metres apart.

The cranes, worth GBP 326,000, will be delivered and installed in June.
