Speaking about the contract, Konecranes' MD, Gordon Adie said, We have a long successful track record with cranes designed to operate in the shipbuilding sector.
We are of course delighted to have won through the stringent tendering process and I know that our advanced technology performance and safety features played an important role in the decision process.
This contract, combined with other recent successes underlines our confidence to continue to invest and build on our East Kilbride capacity." The cranes will be fully equipped with all Konecranes modern features, such as DynA Invertor control on all motions and are operated through radio controls where the 200t and 60t cranes have a master and slave combination, allowing 1 operator to control 2 cranes and 4 hoists for tandem lift.
Konecranes own AC Frequency Control System provides the most modern and reliable drive for cranes, significantly reducing the maintenance costs.
All the hoists will have load display and the cranes will operate safely on shared rails at differing levels with KONECRANES anti-collision controls constantly monitoring related movements.
A special design feature of the 2 x 200 tonne cranes is their ability to accept extreme rigging angles required for ship section turning.
This is enabled by designing the main hoist trolleys in a way that the main hoist rope drums are placed 90deg from normal to the main girders.
All the cranes will have Konecranes Premium Condition Monitoring to minimise maintenance downtime.
True vertical lift, floodlights, motion limit switches, back up pendant controls, K-Bar long travel conductors and festoon cables will be standard to all cranes.
The 60t and 5t cranes will delivered with the girders in 1 length (43 and 42m) and the 200t and 10t cranes will have girder splice joints due to the span (52.5 and 51.5m).
