Nissan modernises its cranes
Realising that modernising an old crane is a good alternative to the capital outlay involved in a new one, Nissan called in East Kilbride Crane experts, Konecranes UK.
Delivery will be in July this year.
Konecranes UK will supply five cranes to the Coolkeeragh site.
The largest capacity crane is a 95/10tonne SMD Spacemaker crane with a span of 29.25m.
The next is an 80/10tonne capacity SMD Spacemaker crane with a span of 29.3m.
Further down the scale, three CXTS cranes are being supplied at 10, 8 and 5 tonnes, with the latter being a semi-goliath at 10.6 m span.
Speaking about the contract, Konecranes MD, Gordon Adie said, "We have a long successful track record with cranes designed to operate in the power generation sector.
We are of course delighted to have won this important contract and I know that our advanced technology performance and safety features played an important role in the decision process.
This contract, combined with other recent successes underlines our confidence to continue to invest and build on our East Kilbride capacity." The cranes will be fully equipped with all Konecranes modern features, such as DynA Invertor control on all motions, controlled by Konecranes Remox radio control with back up pendant.
Konecranes own DynA AC Frequency Control Systems provide the most modern and reliable drive for cranes, significantly reducing the maintenance costs and improving productivity.
All the cranes will have Konecranes Premium Condition Monitoring that provides accurate and instant information on the crane usage, allowing predictable maintenance planning to suit the actual crane usage, this then minimises downtime.
True vertical lift, floodlights, motion limit switches, back up pendant controls, K-Bar long travel conductors and festoon cables will be standard to all cranes.
