Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Feb 26, 2003

Speaking of the company's 2002 performance, Gordon Adie, Managing Director of Konecranes (UK) reported growth across all of the company's crane sectors.

Speaking of their 2002 performance, Gordon Adie, Managing Director of Konecranes (UK) said, "It has been a phenomenal year for us.

We've seen growth across all our crane sectors with impressive sales reached in some of them." "Luckily for us we recognised the growing demands at an early stage and were able to invest heavily in our own production capability at East Kilbride to enable us to keep up with the demand.

During the year we have spent a considerable amount on modernising existing plant, commissioned two new cranes with a heavier capacity, modernised 3 existing cranes, built a 2nd girder fabrication area, with a 2nd alignment jig and an additional paint shop.

This has resulted in increased capacity for heavy crane production and a doubling of capacity for standard cranes production.

We also added new Electrical Design Computers with an all new CAD system and we have plans for further investment in 2004." "The Scottish Executive granted part of the investment and we are grateful for their support, as it will help to protect our current levels of employment in East Kilbride.

Having ended 2002 20% ahead of budget, we have started the new year with work that takes us through to 2004.".
