Kopex International's new free Guide to Specifying Electrical Conduit has been revised to include information on the latest lead free conduit systems.

The guide provides answers to common questions from engineers and contractors when specifying conduit systems, including the choice of materials and the standards applicable to different types of installation.

Specifying electrical conduit systems is complicated by new and constantly changing regulatory burden and health and safety issues.

Most recently, lead based pliable electrical conduit systems became obsolete under the new RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive, which outlawed the use of lead.

As a result, the company launched its new range of RoHS compliant pliable conduit manufactured from steel, coated with a copper alloy.

This conduit maintains a high EMC screening capability and strength and has an improved minimum bend radius making it more suitable for flexing applications.

The new conduit can be safely specified for all applications where lead based products were previously used and the details are discussed in the guide.

Other areas explored in the guide are environmental conditions such as gaseous and liquid contamination, isolation from sparks and explosion.
