Efficiency, precision and flexibility make the latest 'small tonnage' or 'low kN' injection moulders ideal for producing top quality products at highly competitive prices.

With its new CX series injection moulding machines, Krauss-Maffei once again proves its ability to engineer and build 'small tonnage' machines Efficiency, precision and flexibility make the CX machines ideal for producing top quality products at highly competitive prices

At the Interplastica, Krauss-Maffei demonstrated the performance and flexibility that characterize the CX series with a KM 80-380 CX machine operating with an LR-S 100 linear robot.

The machine produced snap-on connectors with film hinges for automotive electronics in a 2+2 cavity mould.

A standalone LR-S 100 linear robot demoulds the parts and drops them onto a conveyor belt.

The CX series is the logical further development of Krauss-Maffei's successful C series, which sold over 12,000 machines in ten years.

It continues the proven two-platen design, which reduces the length of the clamp by 30%.

Customers can install more machines on the same production area.

The cantilevered clamp unit makes it simpler to plan transport systems for demoulded parts and leaves maximum space for peripheral equipment.

A key feature of the clamp unit is the excellent platen parallelism.

Four cylinders act absolutely symmetrically for uniform clamp force distribution.

The all-hydraulic clamping system with integrated drive cylinders is responsible for fast, dynamic opening and closing movements.

The CX series includes the right injection unit with screws optimized for each different production task.

Krauss-Maffei offers a choice of up to five plasticizing unit sizes and four screw diameters per injection unit.

The company's proven successful screw designs, the rotary piston injection unit and central force application are a guarantee for high throughput and outstanding melt quality.

High priority for the latest MC5 control was a system that was ultra-easy to run and simple to service and maintain.

Capable of fast process analysis, the MC5 virtually eliminates the risk of operator input errors Easy access to the mould area and intelligent positioning of hydraulic components in the machine bed simplify mould changing and maintenance work.

The CX series is unique in for its versatility and the breadth of its application range.

Standard machines can be upgraded or modified, even after installation, for more complex production processes.

This includes different technical solutions for multicomponent moulding, physical and chemical foaming, gas- and water-assisted injection, and processes like DecoForm, SkinForm, ClearForm (compression moulding) and CleanForm (cleanroom moulding).

Integrating CX machines into automated manufacturing solutions is unproblematic.

And there are no constraints on the level of automation demanded by the solution.

* High-performance systems from a single contract partner - the work cell in action at the Interplastica includes the new LR-S, a linear robot variant with an independent control system.

The control panel graphics and the operator interface follow the same logic for the injection moulding machine and the robot.

This simplifies the operator's job, makes training easier and reduces the risk of operator error.

The stand-alone robot version can be used in conjunction with injection moulding machines from other manufacturers.

At the Interplastica, the LR-S is part of a standard manufacturing cell producing parts from polypropylene.

The LR-S is the standalone version of Krauss-Maffei's LR range of linear robots; LR robots have the control fully integrated in the injection machine control system.
