Sales engineer appointed for workholding business
Kurt Manufacturing Company, Industrial Products Division, has appointed Michael Granlund to the position of sales engineer for its custom engineered workholding operations.
Kurt Manufacturing Company, Industrial Products Division, announced the appointment of Michael Granlund to the position of sales engineer for its custom engineered workholding operations.
Granlund will head up sales and concept design for new custom engineering workholding projects.
He will work directly with both customers and Kurt sales representatives coordinating Kurt's design engineering resources to develop individual workholding solutions that maximize productivity for all types of vertical and horizontal machining centers.
A 30-year employee of Kurt, Granlund brings to his new position broad experience as a precision machine operator and as a process and manufacturing engineer.
Most recently, he was a process and manufacturing engineer working on Kurt's full line of standard 'D' series vises and accessories, a position he held for 6 years.
Prior to that, Granlund served as a toolmaker for 5 years with Kurt and then became a special machine and fixture designer and assembler for 9 years.
In his first 10 years at Kurt, Granlund operated horizontal machining centers used in many of Kurt's largest precision contract manufacturing projects, which included machining engine crankcases for Polaris all-terrain vehicles and housings for IBM mainframe computers.
Granlund holds a 3-year tool, die and mold degree from Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota.
