Rugged modular tombstone fixtures are lighter

Modular tombstones in 2-face and 4-face models provide lighter weight options for designing and building high density workholding for today's high speed horizontal machining centers.

New ToolBlox modular tombstones in 2 Face and 4 Face models provide lighter weight options for designing and building high density workholding for today's high speed horizontal machining centers.

With a weight of 30-40 percent less than conventional cast iron tombstones, these ToolBlox provide new versatility and reduced cost for modular workholding.

Built of rugged A36 HRS steel, they are highly rigid to achieve workpiece immobility and to dampen cutter induced vibration using highest speed spindles.

ToolBlox modular tombstones are designed specifically to accommodate all types of workholding devices, including but not limited to, virtually all model Kurt single station, double station and multiple station vises, either manual or hydraulically actuated.

They can handle all types of clamps and modular fixturing including custom workholding devices and hydraulic components.

They have bolt holes and dowel patterns on each face for fast installation and removal of sub-plates and workholding components which reduces setup time.

Two different size models of the 2 Face ToolBlox are available, the first with a 400mm square base and 320mm wide by 25in high mounting faces with estimated weight of 147.9kg/326 lb.

The second model has a 500mm square base and 400mm wide by 28in high mounting faces with estimated weight of 247.7kg/546 lb.

(Weights include aluminum sub-plates) Two different size models of the 4 Face ToolBlox are available: the first with a 400mm square base and 320mm wide by 25in high mounting faces with estimated weight of 111.1kg/245 lb.

The second model has a 500mm square base and 400mm wide by 28in high mounting faces with estimated weight of 163.8kg/361 lb.

(Weights include aluminum sub-plates) Kurt also offers a variety of ToolBlox sub-plates available in A36 HRS steel or 6061 T6 aluminum for use on the ToolBlox modular tombstones.

These sub-plates have optional hole patterns and/or keyways, are precision ground to +/-001in and are doweled for fast bolting to ToolBlox tombstones.

Kurt vises may be permanently mounted to these sub-plates for fast and easy setup changes on milling machines.
