Workholding system extends vice capability
Kurt Manufacturing's Hydramax workholding system for its 8in vices holds five or eight parts in a single clamping and replace standard jaw plates.
Kurt has introduced its Hydramax Workholding System for Kurt 8in vices (vises), which can hold five or eight parts in a single clamping.
The development expands the Hydramax line to include systems for the widely used 4in, 6in and 8in Kurt vises.
Hydramax Workholding Systems are said by Kurt to be ideal for enhancing the capabilities of the 4in, 6in and 8in Kurt vises, by replacing standard jaw plates with a jaw set-up in models with four, five, six, seven, eight, 10 and 12 pistons.
Independent hydraulic pistons provide consistent clamping for holding multiple parts, irregularly shaped parts, castings and various size parts in one clamping.
Aluminum jaw allows quick pocket machining.
* No hydraulic connections required - the patented system features a common channel that equalises pressure against all of the individual pistons so equal pressure is applied to all parts.
Operation is fast and easy, said Kurt.
Simply load parts and a single stroke of the vise handle provides independent clamping of each piston.
The system utilises hydraulic pressure for clamping although there are no hydraulic connections to make.
Set-up is fast and easy.
Changeover from standard jaws to Hydramax Jaws takes only a few minutes.
Kurt told manufacturingtalk that once Hydramax systems are installed, changeover to new set-ups takes less than a minute.
In addition to a full line of standard vises and accessories, Kurt provides integrated custom engineered workholding systems and custom gaging systems for automated manufacturing.
Workholding and gaging are designed around a customer's requirements with systems available for many industries including automotive, medical, can manufacturing and aerospace applications.
