K3 has acquired Information Engineering Group, the European distributors of the SYSPRO suite of ERP manufacturing software.

SYSPRO is one of the world's most successful modern technology, Microsoft-based, ERP solutions, with 12,000 licensed companies in 60 countries.

The deal was completed on June 27.

The acquisition will further K3's strategic aim of becoming the leading UK supplier of Microsoft-based supply chain management solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing, distribution and retail sectors.

Established in 1986 and headquartered in Manchester, Information Engineering is a distributor and implementer of the SYSPRO manufacturing, financial and distribution software throughout Europe.

SYSPRO is a Microsoft-based software suite which provides customers with real-time information throughout the supply chain process.

Information Engineering's other services include project management, implementation consultancy, training and support.

Andy Makeham, chief executive of K3, says the company has been seeking opportunities to further develop its position within the manufacturing software sector and therefore the acquisition of Information Engineering is an exciting development.

"SYSPRO provides a market-leading ERP solution for mid-range manufacturers it complements and strengthens our existing manufacturing software portfolio." "ERP is not a solution where one size fits all," said Makeham, "The acquisition of Information Engineering means we have a range of scaleable, modern, Microsoft-based ERP applications designed to address the needs of a range of manufacturers from small jobbing shops through to large make-to-order and repetitive manufacturers." Makeham concluded: "K3 has been significantly transformed over the past 12 months and we now have in place a strong platform from which to grow.".
