Vision software simplifies robot programming
Vision software embedded into a PC-based controller for a seamless interface between robot and the vision system makes programming even easier and will be demonstrated on a 6-axis robot.
A KUKA robot featuring new vision software, which makes programming even easier, will be demonstrating its versatile skills at MACH 2006 on the KUKA Automation + Robotics stand in Hall 5, Stand 5090.
The best-selling KUKA KR16, 6-axis robot will be equipped with KUKA's new vision software which is embedded into a PC-based controller for a seamless interface between the robot control and the vision system.
It means the operator can program the robot directly from the KUKA hand-held controller without the need for an intermediate PC, ensuring that programming is much simpler.
The robot will demonstrate its capabilities for rapid product identification, inspection and orientation by identifying parts of a block jigsaw and displaying the image onto a human machine interface (HMI) terminal.
A similar robot cell equipped with the intuitive vision guidance system is being used by Pilkingtons in the assembly of vehicle rear windscreens and quarter lights at its factory in St Helens, UK.
KUKA's stand will also include a demonstration on how robots can significantly reduce costs by automating the machining of material used to produce models and prototypes.
Thanks to KUKA's unique CamRob software and PC-based controller, they can be utilised as a 6- or 7-axis machining centre.
KUKA robots offer payload capabilities from 3kg to 500kg and are suitable for a wide range of applications such as welding, machine tool tending, assembly and palletising.
They are used in many diverse industry sectors including aerospace, automotive, foundry, machining, plastics and logistics.
