According to Kuka, the new interface not only reduces the time required by operators to familiarise themselves with the system but also further improves programming safety.
Following the sequence which appears on the screen, the operator can create a customised program by selecting the required robot commands.
Once the cycle has been defined, corresponding parameter maps are chosen from the application program and the relevant data entered.
Only those values that are required are displayed in the individual parameter maps, substantially reducing the number of possible parameter settings for the application and significantly simplifying the programming procedure.
A high degree of safety is ensured as all the entries made by the operator are checked for plausibility which virtually excludes the possibility of any incorrect entries being made.
Standard sequences can be pre-programmed and retrieved at the touch of button while sequences for more complex application programs can be created using menu-guided, plain text programming.
"With the launch of the new graphical user interface, Kuka has combined the advantages of linear units, in terms of user-friendly operation, with the superior flexibility and performance of the new generation of jointed-arm robots," explained Kuka robot sales specialist Steve O'Reilly.
"Kuka's shelf-mounted robot systems not only save space but are highly-versatile, cost-effective solutions for integration with a wide range of machines.
