Robots for palletizing and order picking
Kuka has been selected by Nercon Engineering and Manufacturing as its robotics supplier for its new mixed product palletizing and order picking systems.
Kuka has been selected by Nercon Engineering and Manufacturing as its robotics supplier for its new mixed product palletizing and order picking systems.
Nercon, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, will use the Kuka KR 180 PA palletizing robot in its new system to load and unload mixed product from a tri-level accumulating conveyor system.
The Kuka KR 40 robot will be used in the company's new order picking cell.
Both systems, which were recently showcased at PackExpo in Chicago, are designed to increase customer's efficiency by streamlining production.
"Nercon's ability to make unique material handling and palletizing solutions bodes well with Kuka Robotic's position in the market," said Kevin Kozuszek, director of marketing for Kuka Robotics Corporation.
"Nercon's conveyors coupled with our robots offer material handling and packaging customers extremely efficient solutions to streamline their processes." "Kuka Robotics' extensive product line and commitment to quality were key in our robotic supplier selection process," said Jim Streblow, vice president of marketing for Nercon Engineering and Manufacturing "With these new application systems customers can easily see how they can improve production and cut manufacturing costs." The Kuka KR 180 PA robot is designed especially for high-speed tasks with heavy payloads.
The robot's arm is made of carbon fibre composite materials which makes it extremely light, without sacrificing stiffness and its FEM optimised kinematics have been adapted for palletizing.
The Kuka KR 180 PA is a four-axis robot with a 3200 mm reach and capable of handling up to a 180 kg payload.
The Kuka KR 40 PA four-axis robot arm is also made of carbon fibre composite materials, is capable of handling up to a 40 kg payload and has a 2091 mm reach.
Its unique work envelope enables it to be used in high-speed conveyor-tracking material handling applications as well as homogenous and mixed palletizing applications.
