Handling and Sorting Robots At PPMA Show

KUKA Automation and Robotics' new palletising robots will be showing off their handling and sorting capabilities at the PPMA Show at Birmingham's NEC (UK) from September 27-29.

KUKA Automation and Robotics' new palletising robots will be showing off their handling and sorting capabilities at the PPMA Show at Birmingham's NEC (UK) from September 27-29 The Logisticloop and Mixpactech palletising demonstration cells are set to make their UK debut at the exhibition on the Rynex stand in hall 12, stand 150

The Logisticloop features a pair of KUKA KR 60 robots, programmed using KUKA's new Pallettech intuitive software, to palletise and de-palletise boxes.

The software program has been specifically developed by KUKA for the processing and packaging sectors.

The demonstraton cell will also include a vision system for scanning the input pallet to ensure the boxes are correctly positioned for handling by the robots, which are equipped with the latest gripper technology for multiple pick and place tasks.

High-speed sorting will be the centrepiece of KUKA's Mixpactech, which uses a KR 40PA robot to separate different flavoured jam jars in to trays.

The robot has cycle times for typical pick-cycles thanks to its lightweight construction and optimised dynamic motion from KUKA's PC-based controller, said the company.

"These specially-designed cells demonstrate how the combination of leading-edge robot technology and intuitive software can transform almost any arduous, time-consuming manual task in to an innovative, high-performance operation," explained Brett Green, KUKA's general sales manager.

KUKA said that its palletising robots can be incorporated in to an existing production line as they have their own integrated energy supply harness and also feature working-range monitoring through the company's 'safe robot' functions.

The range includes a variety of variants offering medium payload capacities of 40Kg and 50Kg up to heavy payloads of 360Kg and 570Kg.

There is also a specialist Arctic version for working in cold store rooms. Request a free brochure from KUKA Automation + Robotics ...
