Rosti buys Kuka KR150 L110 for demoulding task

A KUKA Automation + Robotics product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Nov 20, 2008

Rosti Technical Plastics has chosen a Kuka robot for a demoulding task on its largest moulding machine.

The Kuka KR150 L110 will transfer rear console components from a 15,000kN (1500 tonf) Engel Duo system that was recently installed at Rosti's factory in Larkhall.

The Kuka robot was selected for its compact footprint and 3100mm reach.

An average cycle time of 50 seconds and the robot's quick and easy tool changeover capability also impressed Rosti's engineering team.

Rosti started reorganising its factory when it bought seven Engel machines at the end of 2007 after securing new contracts from customers in the automotive, electronics and medical sectors.

Kuka Automation and Robotics has a range of specially designed robots, high tech grippers and sensors suitable for a variety of injection and blow moulding applications.

Mike Barnett, robot sales specialist at Kuka, said: 'Automation offers a raft of value-added benefits, including higher productivity rates, improved product quality and better working environments.'.
