Kermel launches two new protective fabrics
Kermel has developed two new fabrics that deliver outstanding levels of comfort without compromising performance.
Kermel, a leading European manufacturer of aramid fibres for protection against heat and flame, has developed two new fabrics that deliver outstanding levels of comfort without compromising performance.
Kermel Sofshield is a new fibre, designed for a wide range of industrial sectors, that combines protection with comfort to allow the wearer to work safely and with confidence.
The fibre does not ignite or melt when exposed to high temperatures.
It also contains anti static properties that ensure that it is appropriate for use in applications where there may be danger of ignition.
Kermel Sofshield does not compromise durability and will withstand continuous washes in industrial laundries.
The fibres' resistance to UV is significantly above the industry standards, thanks to Kermel's unique solution dying process.
Kermel Comforguard is a new generation of a product that has proven itself in the electrical and petrochemical industry.
It is the world's lightest fabric to be approved by the American NFPA 70E Class 2 standard for electric arc protection.
All Comforguard fabrics have a unique soft feel similar to cotton and do not pill.
The fabric will deliver long life protection, maintaining colourfastness even after multiple use.
Trevor Inglis of Kermel said: "Kermel has a well established international track record for developing protective fabrics that meet all the needs of the modern industrial safety environment.
The development of Sofshield and Comforguard represent the latest phase of a process of continuous research and development with customers and seeks to constantly push back the boundaries for protective clothing solutions in industrial and emergency services sectors.
All Kermel fibre has unique generic properties that ensure that they deliver an unbeatable level of performance for the wearer.
It is smooth surfaced and therefore very comfortable.
It retains good levels of elasticity and a high resistance to abrasion, which explain the excellent durability of the fibre.
There is very little risk of the fibre shrinking during washing or drying, even at very high temperatures and it retains a natural resistance to detergents, making it easier to care for.
