Palm imager for condition monitoring is
affordable

The new palm sized thermal imager from Land Infrared will be good news for maintenance engineers who until now have been unable to invest in their own instrument for condition monitoring.

The new palm sized thermal imager from Land Infrared will be good news for maintenance engineers who until now have been unable to invest in their own instrument for their condition monitoring program By taking advantage of advances in electro-optics techniques, the new Land Cyclops PPM+ hand-held imager combines high performance thermal imaging with accurate temperature measurement and good ergonomic design - all at an affordable price

Cyclops PPM+ uses an uncooled 320 x 240 pixel, long wavelength, focal plane array detector, giving a temperature resolution better than 0.1degC at 30degC, and operates in the 7 to 14 micron waveband.

Apart from its compact design and light weight (just 2kg), the most striking feature of the Cyclops PPM+ is the use of a Compaq iPAQ, which displays a high definition thermal image its large colour LCD screen, clearly visible at all levels of ambient light - even bright sunlight.

Capturing and storing images and transferring them to a computer is made easy via the on-board pocket PC mounted on top of the imager, which has both USB and IRDA connectivity.

A 32MB flash card provides on-board image recording storage.

Additional storage is available on a range of optional flash cards, up to 64MB.

Reports are readily generated using LIPS PPM+, the new Land Image Processing Software system, which provides an extensive range of temperature measurement and image analysis functions.

Cyclops PPM+ is suitable for a wide range of electrical, mechanical, and building and works management applications within the 0 to 300degC temperature measurement range with accuracy to +/-2%.

Typical examples include: checking electrical connections and performance of power distribution systems; motors, bearings and couplings; integrity of insulation, blocked pipe work and other thermal faults; and hidden defects in buildings such as insulation and roofs.
