Lattice product portfolio expands rapidly to meet requirements of evolving basestation marketplace.

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation has announced it is a sponsor of the Basestation Conference 2005 and will demonstrate its broad range of programmable wireless solutions for next generation networks The Basestation Conference 2005 will take place in Bath, UK April 26 - 29

This is the second international conference exclusively focused on the $10B wireless basestation market.

The conference addresses key market issues at a business level with world-class speakers from leading industry analyst firms and major companies.

The program is targeted at the needs of business leaders and decision makers in companies across the entire wireless basestation value chain, from operators to subsystem vendors and component suppliers.

Full details of the conference can be found on http://www.openbasestation.org.

"Lattice provides a remarkably broad and rich set of programmable wireless solutions for next generation wireless networks, including basestations," said Stan Kopec, Lattice vice president of corporate marketing.

"Our solutions include an extensive range of programmable silicon platforms, including both FPGAs and field programmable system chips, or FPSCs.

FPSCs offer high performance SERDES backplane transceivers combined with a high-performance FPGA fabric and are ideal platforms for CPRI and OBSAI designs.

In addition, Lattice provides comprehensive intellectual property cores and reference designs specifically targeted for wireless applications." In August 2004, Lattice, with Tyco Electronics, successfully demonstrated a complete solution for the Open Base Station Architecture Initiative (OBSAI) Reference Point 3 (RP3) interface.

The solution provides soft IP implemented in FPGA gates to address data link layer functionality, while utilizing the industry-leading embedded SERDES and PCS core of the device to fulfill the physical layer requirements for the communication of RP3 packets over Tyco's unique backplane connector for slim slot spacing and/or high speed cable assembly.

More recently, Lattice has added a Rake Receiver to its library of system-level reference designs.

A Rake Receiver is a fundamental building block in many Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems.

Such systems include the third generation (3G) wireless mobile telephony systems WCDMA and CDMA2000.

Lattice's reference designs are made available to its strategic customers free of charge, as part of Lattice's total system solutions.

"Unlike other programmable logic companies, Lattice is unique in that we provide programmable solutions not only in digital silicon but also in programmable analog and mixed-signal devices," Kopec continued.

"In particular, our ispPAC Power Manager devices simultaneously monitor and control multiple power supplies, and our ispClock products can generate up to five user-defined clock frequencies.

Our range of digital, mixed-signal and analog devices, combined with an extensive library of IP cores and reference designs, comprises the most comprehensive and seamless programmable product portfolio designed for next generation wireless networks.".
