Enhanced virtual reality in simulations
Witness 2007 has built in financial analysis, plug and play optimisation, enhanced virtual reality and customer requested enhancements
Lanner Group, the business process analysis company, has announced the availability of Witness 2007.
The latest version of the world's leading business simulation system provides the predictive technology that validates and guides decision-making in every aspect of operations.
Witness 2007 adds built-in financial analysis; plug-in optimisation algorithms; enriched 3D modelling library and layout options and a range of user requested enhancements.
Witness 2007 is shipped with a manufacturing and a services edition.
The integrated balance sheet and costing analysis function of Witness 2007 enables users to incorporate financial issues as part of the simulation exercise rather than as a separate, add-on function.
For example, companies can incorporate currency as a factor or separate busy and idle time costs within processes.
Customers are able to input expressions tailored to their specific business, making costings dependent on any specified business issues.
VR for Witness 2007 produces virtual reality models using over 50 new objects and environments.
VR modelling is further simplified by inter-object scaling and enhanced with animation control at any level within the hierarchy.
The virtual reality function provides the user with the ability to 'share' virtual reality worlds, sending simulated processes and scenarios to other interested parties.
David Jones, CEO of Lanner, comments: "With the 2007 release we have delivered many of the enhanced simulation modelling improvements requested by the simulation experts within our customer base".
"We've also been listening closely to our business users and have enhanced the financial analysis and 3D visualisation features of the system".
John Ladbrook, simulation technical expert at Ford, comments: "Many of the system developments have been customer driven and here at Ford we are waiting with anticipation for Witness 2007".
"The new logic checker will speed up debugging; the easiflex options for breakdowns and setups will allow rapid setup of experimentation, and the curved bends will enhance our displays".
Further enhancements are aimed at the simulation expert.
These include a simple plug and play method to use business specific algorithms inside the process optimiser; curved path displays useful with conveyors and tracks; easy click and drag methods to rotate activities or machines icons; detailed picking model for warehousing; a powerful new model debugging facility, and new workbooks offering step by step explanations of many types of Witness modelling.
A full list of enhancements in Witness 2007 can be found on the Lanner website under simulation professionals.
