A fine-cutting head that is very compact and can handle powers up to 500W is aimed at the precision micro-machining market and is compatible with both Nd:YAG and fibre lasers

Precitec have released a new fine-cutting head that is aimed at the precision micro machining market A typical example would be stent cutting for the medical industry

The head is compatible with both Nd:YAG and fibre lasers.

It is very compact and can handle powers up to 500W.

With an extremely short focal length of 50mm and the use of high quality lenses, focal spot sizes can be achieved down to 10 micron in diameter (subject to laser beam quality).

The fine-cutting head can be equipped with capacitive height sensing which maintains a constant standoff distance between the nozzle and the workpiece ensuring the optimum focal position is maintained during cutting.

The head is available with both 50mm and 80mm focal length lenses and it can withstand 25 bar assist gas pressure.

A protective window is used in front of the lens to protect the lens from spatter from the process.
