A British company has been awarded a contract to supply America's leading defence and space technology organisation with state-of-the-art component cleaning equipment.

A British company has been awarded a contract to supply America's leading communication, defence and space technology organisation with state-of-the-art component cleaning equipment, it was confirmed this week Layton Technologies, the Staffordshire-based designer and manufacturer of industrial cleaning solutions, beat off competition from US firms to deliver what EDO Corporation is describing as 'unrivalled workmanship.' According to EDO, who supplies highly engineered products for governments and industry world-wide, the standard of equipment and level of technical support provided by Layton is 'a credit to British industry.' "We went with Layton because of the superior performance of their equipment," said Mitch Mazer, of Electronic Systems Group, the New York based division of EDO

"Layton has provided us with a truly superior product which we are proud to install in our factory.

The engineering quality, finish and workmanship is superb," he added.

"Their design is well thought out, the wiring is exceptionally neat, the finish is spectacular and the overall service provided is cost competitive and has significant environmental value." Layton Technologies designed, manufactured and installed the impressive solvent cleaning system, which removes residual contamination from electrical components prior to conformal coating using an automated process in a single stainless steel tank.

Mazer claims the Layton system is not only environmentally more friendly than their previous system but is substantially more valuable in terms of HSE considerations.

"The new equipment delivers significant employee safety benefits, " Mazer said.

"Layton has incorporated multiple fume sensors in the design of the machine that automatically switches off main power when emissions are detected.

"The design also includes an automatic fire suppresser that, apart from the obvious safety benefits, also helps keep insurance costs down.

This is an indirect saving, but one that nevertheless makes a valuable contribution to bottom line profit.".
