Linde awarded at FLTA Awards

A Linde Material Handling UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Feb 16, 2006

Double win for Linde at the Fork Lift Truck Association 2006 Awards.

The FLTA Awards on the 11th February was a very successful evening for Linde Material Handling (UK).

The 'Archie' for ergonomics was awarded to Linde for the outstanding features on the revolutionary X range of reach trucks (launched in March 2005).

The spacious, business-class seat with integrated steering and fingertip controls and the panoramic mast design with a unique traversing head are just some of the features incorporated in the X range.

Managing director, Wolfgang Geuecke, collected the award on behalf of the company and later commented, "Linde is extremely proud to have won this award".

"The X range sets new industry standards for reach truck design and the operator's wellbeing has been central to the implementation of many of the features".

"For us, operator comfort and safety have the highest priority in our product design process because we know that a stress-free working environment motivates and promotes optimum efficiency and productivity".

"A win for the new X range of reach trucks reflects the industry's recognition of our commitment in this area".

Linde also won the prestigious award for Design Achievement for the X range - this time awarded to the Linde Basingstoke director of design, Paul Eckersley .

Paul has worked in the materials handling industry for 42 years and heads up a 50-strong, highly experienced team of design and development engineers in Basingstoke.

The award recognises Paul's commitment and initiative in the design of optimum materials handling solutions and specifically reflects his contribution to the X range.

The dedication he has shown included many hours operating the reach truck to personally test the ergonomic aspects to ensure the highest levels of operator comfort.

He has received tremendous feedback on the comfort of the X range from operators which, for him, is the best possible reward for his efforts.

Following the presentation of his 'Archie', Paul said, "It was a great pleasure and privilege to have received the award".

"It is wonderful both for me personally and for the design team at Linde who have worked so hard to develop the X range to have these achievements recognised.".
