Derbyshire based confectionery company, Swizzels Matlow recently acquired three new Linde trucks.
The T 20 AP, 2000kg capacity electric stand on pallet truck has set new standards of comfort and safety and is used for lorry loading and unloading, rapid load transfer and occasional order picking.
A foldaway platform with protective side guides enables it to double as a pedestrian pallet truck.
Swizzels Matlow Limited, manufacture sweets which include the nationally-known range of Love Hearts, Fizzers, Double Lollies, Parma Violets, New Refreshers, Drumstick Lolly and Rainbow Drops making Swizzels Matlow the U.K.
s leading independent childrens' sugar confectionery manufacturer, distributing on average 3,500-4,000 pallets per month to the cash and carry, convenience stores and groceries sector.
The distribution centre in Macclesfield uses narrow aisle storage and equipment.
The T20 APs feed the narrow aisle equipment from the loading docks and also transfer pallets to and from the low level racking to speed up the process.
The distribution centre operates three shift patterns and at least two of the pallet trucks are used consistently throughout the 16 hour work cycle.
However, this work cycle can be increased to manage peak demands such as Halloween.
Dominic Lewis, Linde Sterling's area sales manager, worked closely with Swizzels Matlow to establish a complete understanding of its materials handling needs in order to develop solutions that met the demands of the business.
Swizzels Matlow is a dynamic business, which needed a solution to speed up pallet movement throughout the warehouse.
Tony Kyle, Distribution Manager at Swizzels Matlow explained that they needed a reliable solution, which meant more than just simply placing an order for some trucks.
He continues: "Linde has provided us with help and after-sales support where the service has been excellent; any issues have been dealt with quickly because of the dedication provided by the engineers, thus reducing any downtime.
"We trialled a number of different trucks but Linde's stood out from the rest with their safety and ergonomic features, and also because we can use them for low level storage and retrieval in the racking.
But more significantly was the importance of keeping our operators' involved in the selection process".
Swizzels Matlow operates other Linde trucks at its production plant in New Mills which carry out an assortment of tasks.
"Linde Sterling has provided us with the right trucks to get the job done both efficiently and safely and demonstrated an excellent after sale service through a reliable and quick response," Tony concludes.
