A USA-based a full service contract measurement company has added four laser tracking units for measuring large components of over 30m long.

Exact Metrology has added four Leica Geosystems laser trackers to its extensive range of portable metrology equipment Exact Metrology purchased a Leica LTD840 with a Leica T-Probe, and three Leica LTD709 laser trackers to further expand their contract inspection and reverse engineering service capabilities

Exact Metrology is a full service contract measurement company that provides the following services.

* On-site inspection.

* Reverse engineering.

* Non-contact laser scanning.

* 2D/3D digitizing services.

* Contract programming.

* Software training.

* Part programming.

* Measurement equipment implementation.

Utilizing the latest in portable measurement technology together with decades of combined experience, Exact's application engineers can handle everything from small to large parts over 30m, and long-range, large format scanning for architecture, civil engineering and surveying applications.

"These Leica laser trackers enhance our line-up of portable measurement equipment and give us the flexibility to do a wide variety of work" said Dean Solberg, principal of Exact Metrology.

"On-site inspection is a core component of our service offerings, and these laser trackers help us to do our job efficiently, quickly, and precisely".

The Leica LTD709 offers a measurement range of up to 9m (30ft) for portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) applications, which is an increase of 25% over the model it replaces.

At the same time, the LTD709 offers a measurement range of 25m (82ft) when used with a reflector.

When used with the Leica T-Probe II, hard to reach recesses and cavities can be measured with astonishing precision, said Leica.

The Leica LTD840 laser tracker and Leica T-Probe, said Leica to manufacturingtalk.com, has the highest data acquisition rate and long distance measurement of any taser tracker available today.

With a probing range of up to 15m and a measurement range of 40m, the most demanding wireless probing of large objects, parts, and assemblies is now possible.
