Horizontal and vertical machining centres launched
A 5 axis horizontal machining centre, with a newly designed pallet exchange system and trunnion arrangement has linear/rotary scales that guarantee high accuracy and high metal removal.
The Kitamura stand at the EMO exhibition was alight with enthusiasm from customers awaiting the promotion of two exciting new machine tools.
The Japanese machine tool manufacturer put its emphasis on the exceptional capabilities of the new Mycenter M-1XiF vertical machining centre and the Supertrunnion 5 axis horizontal machining centre.
The new Supertrunnion 5 axis horizontal machining centre, developed from the proven Supercell series of machines has a newly designed pallet exchange system and trunnion arrangement.
Available with up to 120 quick change pallets and 190 tools, its linear/rotary scales guarantee high accuracy and high metal removal.
Distributed by Leader CNC in the UK, Mr Mike Serzeniewski Leader CNC sales director says: "The new Supertrunnion is an exceptional machine with high accuracy, phenomenal speed and extremely high power capabilities that make this rigid high specification machine ideal for the aerospace industry." Also on show was the upgraded Mycenter M-1XiF vertical machining centre.
Fitted with a thermally controlled 30,000 rev/min spindle, it develops 30Nm of torque up to 5,000 rev/min.
This high specification machine includes a special version of the Fanuc 16iMB CNC control with 500 block look ahead, NURBS interpolation and a 16MB data server.
Aimed at high speed machining and high accuracy markets with +/-0.002mm positional accuracy, the machine is guaranteed to be a success.
Serzeniewski continues: "The accuracy and speed of the Mycenter M-1XiF machine put it in a class of its own.
The demonstration piece at EMO was a convex billet of steel with the name Kitamura profiled into the surface.
Although impressive, what was truly outstanding was that the engraving of each letter of 'K I T A M U R A' was a micron deeper than the previous.
This level of control and accuracy whilst machining a complex shape could only be seen when the test piece was held to the light - you could actually see microns." Kitamura also demonstrated a number of additional machines with the Mycenter M-2XiF Sparkchanger twin pallet vertical machining centre proving another crowd pleaser, with a high speed aluminium part on one pallet and a steel part on the other, showing off both facets of these versatile machines.
Significant interest was also shown in the Mytrunnion 5 axis vertical machining centre, the Mycenter HX400iF horizontal machining centre linked to a Fastems FPC flexible pallet container system and the Mycenter HX500i horizontal machining centre.
The product launches and the new technologies adapted to current machines make Kitamura a true Leader in the field of horizontal, vertical and 5 axis machine tools - for information on any of the exciting new developments shown at EMO, talk to the UK's main distributor Leader CNC, also the European Main Dealer for Toshiba Machine.
