Fibre optics give machining centre fast
feedback
Considered as one of the fastest trunnion-type, 5-axis machining centres on the market - it utilises fibre optic technology for high speed feedback and high acceleration/deceleration.
Developed from the exceptional SuperCell machining centre, the new SuperTrunnion machine from Kitamura will undoubtedly make a huge impact on the market It made its European premiere at EMO 2005 and the SuperTrunnion generated significant interest from all visitors to the stand

Servo barfeed has under 3 min set-up time
Barfeed uses a fully electric servo driven magazine to provide fast and easy handling, which is demonstrated with its remarkable set-up times of less than three minutes.
Available from UK distributor Leader CNC of Nuneaton, the 5 axis SuperTrunnion is already considered as one of the fastest machines on the market with a traverse rate of 50m/min.
This speed is matched by a tool to tool and chip to chip time of 1s and 3.2s respectively.
This is achieved by using a glass scale feedback and an induction scale system on all linear and rotary axes respectively.
The machine utilises fibre optic technology for high speed feedback and high acceleration/deceleration.
This combination guarantees the SuperTrunnion maintains a positional accuracy of +/-0.001mm.
The SuperTrunnion has the capability to accept BT40 tools providing the user with extended tooling capabilities in comparison to the majority of machine tools.
Adding to this, the SuperTrunnion has tool storage capacity for 80 tools, with the option of 40, 140 and 190 tools.
The SuperTrunnion also consists of Kitamura's 4 speed gear driven 15,000 rev/min spindle with the option of a 20,000 rev/min spindle.
Outperforming competitors, it achieves a highly efficient cutting performance with low energy consumption.
This technology allows the SuperTrunnion to reach full power at 788 rev/min with an output maximum torque of 157.4Nm.
Compared with conventional spindle designs, this innovation reduces noise by more than 20%.
The dual contact spindle system offers exceptional machine rigidity, improved surface finish, higher cutting accuracy and extended cutting tool life.
To eliminate thermal distortion, spindle oil is re-circulated through a cooling unit to maintain a constant temperature of +/-3.6 deg F of room temperature.
The SuperTrunnion utilises the new Kitamura/Fanuc 300is control.
Working in conjunction with Fanuc, Kitamura has been able to develop a control system than provides the operator with flexibility and ease of use whilst maintaining power to meet the demands of a high specification machining centre. Request a free brochure from Leader CNC ...
