Laerdal Medical donates life-saving equipment to Essex Fire and Rescue Service's UKFSSART Team.
Bob Fellows, Bsc, education development manager at London Ambulance Service NHS Trust and chairman of the British Paramedic Association, will chair the workshop.
Information will be presented on these innovative new technologies developed by Laerdal and Phillips.
These new technologies, supported by scientific evidence, are now available in selected Laerdal defibrillators with the aim of helping ambulance personnel provide the best treatment possible to victims of sudden cardiac arrest, in compliance with new 2005 Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Laerdal donates Heartstart defibrillators
In response to the current demand for HeartStart defibrillators, at the Safety and Health Expo 06, Laerdal will be exhibiting defibrillators to suit every first aid and professional need.
Early defibrillation saves lives.
In an effort to improve the current 5 per cent "survival to hospital" rate for SCA victims, defibrillators are becoming more and more prevalent in workplaces and public places.
Q-CPR Technology.
Q-CPR is a new technology developed by Laerdal over the last five years after collaborative research found that the quality of CPR practiced "on the street" is often of a lower level than that practiced in the classroom.
Q-CPR realises the connection between quality CPR and the effectiveness of electrical defibrillation.
It measures hands-off time, compression depth and rate, ventilation frequency and inspiration volume.
These measurements are analysed by algorithms and appropriate verbal and visual feedback is produced in accordance with the new guidelines.
If prompts are necessary, they are prioritized and delivered in the order of clinical importance.
Voice prompts can be volume adjusted or muted as required.
The technology behind the new HeartStart MRx Monitor/Defibrillator with Q-CPR has already been put to trial by London Ambulance, and was found to be extremely beneficial by ambulance personnel who found that it "refreshed and improved their skills" and helped to give the patient the best chance of survival.
New Technology for FR2+ SMART CPR is a unique technology from Laerdal and Philips that, incorporated into a Heartstart FR2+ AED, can be used to evaluate the patient's presenting heart rhythm and advise the responder whether they should administer CPR first or shock first.
By making an informed decision when required (for example when no information on the patient's collapse or treatment is available from bystanders), the defibrillator removes the need for the paramedic to make that instant but crucial decision on arrival at the scene.
What's more, once the decision has been made to shock the patient's heart, new Quick Shock technology, now available for all FR2+ AEDs, enables the defibrillator to deliver a shock in only nine seconds - the fastest time of all AEDs on the market today.
