London Ambulance now uses Heartstart FR2
London Ambulance Service (LAS) uses Heartstart FR2 to help increase the number of lives saved.
The London Ambulance Service Trust, who purchased 481 units for their first response vehicles earlier this year, comments "The Laerdal FR2 was chosen following extensive trials amongst ambulance crews, because it is lightweight, portable, easy to use and has an ECG screen.
"These attributes, together with the paediatric and monitoring adaptors, make it very suitable for our use".
Weighing only 2.1kg and measuring only 218 x 218 x 65mm, the Heartstart FR2 is small, easy to transport and store.
Audible and visual prompts guide the user through the simple steps required to treat the patient within the critical time limit, and the monitor is back-lit for easy reading even in direct sunlight or total darkness.
The long life battery gives a minimum of 300 shocks when new, and the shelf life before installation, and standby life after installation, is typically five years each.
A rechargeable training battery is also available, that provides a cost efficient method of utilising the device for training.
Configuration of the FR2 is easy and flexible, allowing extensive configuration possibilities, including treatment protocol in accordance with ERC or AHA guidelines.
