The impending Government White Paper, the Bain Report, establishes the government's target for the UK's emergency services to develop and implement co-responder partnerships more widely Under the new legislation, fire fighters are to be extend their basic life-support skills to include the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) so that when they are first on the scene, they are able to administer life-saving treatment before professional medical assistance arrives
