The course aims to provide the first person on scene - whether officials, racetrack medical teams or Fire and Rescue teams - with the specialist skills to administer immediate, pre-hospital, life-saving medical treatment on the roadside or within the challenging environment of the race circuit.
Steve Benbow, Training Director of Kilo 19, explains, "We are keen to promote the importance of specialist medical skills in all areas of motor industry from professional to volunteer levels".
"Life saving treatment such as defibrillation must be administered within just a few minutes to be successful".

New defibrillator technology at Ambex
Laerdal introduces new defibrillator technology at Ambex.
Early defibrillation saves lives.
In an effort to improve the current 5 per cent "survival to hospital" rate for SCA victims, defibrillators are becoming more and more prevalent in workplaces and public places.
"One major problem that rescuers face in this industry is new car technology".
"Getting someone out of the restraints of a closed cockpit can be very time consuming compared to freeing them from the open cockpit of an F1 car or from a normal road car, on which the average cut time is one minute per cut".
"With new car technology, by the time the seat, roll cage and other restraints have been removed and cut through, it takes longer to free the casualty from the car".
"In these instances, first responders need to have the equipment and skills to administer immediate life-saving treatment swiftly and efficiently within the confines of a casualty-centred rescue." If a person suffers sudden cardiac arrest, prompt defibrillation - within 2-3 minutes of collapse - is the only treatment that can improve their chance of survival.
In most sudden cardiac arrests, the heart simply loses its rhythm and goes into "fibrillation" which means that it quivers.
A controlled shock through the heart, administered through an automatic external defibrillator, can revert the heart to a normal beating pattern, saving the person's life.
Kilo 1-9 medical teams carry a Laerdal HeartStart FR2 defibrillator as part of their medical equipment.
Steve says, "The HeartStart FR2 defibrilllator is very robust and it has proved to be 100% reliable".
"These are critical components when taken to the often challenging environments of international race venues, where temperatures and humidity levels can reach extreme heights." The HeartStart FR2 is recognised by medical professionals all over the world and is the preferred defibrillator of the majority of the UK's ambulance services.
As such, the Motor Sport Association has recently purchased a HeartStart FR2 defibrillator for emergency use at its headquarters, after staff have received specialist training by Kilo 1-9.
HeartStart FR2 defibrillators have also already been installed for emergency use at Silverstone race circuit.
Steve concludes, "The Kilo 1-9 "First Person on the Scene" course promotes a continuous system of care of a casualty-centred rescue with the emphasis on the initial primary survey, of good management of airway, breathing, circulation, disability and environment".
"All training is role specific, and includes advanced extrication from the closed and open cockpit environments of racecars to new car technology road cars".
"The course also covers rescue training for bike casualties".
"Our goal is for all first responders at all motorsport venues to have the same basic and specialist life saving skills when attending medical emergencies.".
