Learning Light completes preliminary research into e-learning
Learning Light (LL), a non-profit organisation, seeking to establish itself as a Centre of Excellence in the use of learning technologies in the workplace, has concluded the first stage in its major research programme to map trends in coporate e-learning The initial survey aimed to discover the types of e-learning research that interest, and are of importance to, those working in corporate e-learning

Learning Light begins systematic literature review
Learning Light (LL) is undertaking a large scale review of evidence-based research into the use and effectiveness of learning technologies in the workplace.
Jane Knight, LL's Head of Research, commented: "The survey has produced a large amount of information not only about what types of research people think is of interest, importance and value to different roles within the e-learning world - both among suppliers and consumers - but also in what forms these people prefer to receive that information: for example as PDFs, podcasts, webinars and so on".
"We are using the findings of this survey to build relationships with other researchers in the industry to launch our research offerings to the UK," Knight continued.
"We hope to release more information about some of these relationships soon." One delighted participant in the survey was Jacqueline Henry of Scottish Power.
"Her name was drawn from the 'Learning Light hat' to receive a video iPod, as a 'thank you' for contributing to the survey".
"Henry, whose current role is focused on evaluating and implementing new initiatives within the Learning and Development function at ScottishPower and who received a 'Special Mention' at last year's e-Learning Awards for 'the best use of an LCMS', said: "I'm thrilled to be the winner of a video iPod.
I'll now be as switched on out of work, as I am in it! "I believe that it is vital that industry research is available to review 'current wisdom' - both to learn from it and, in turn, to attempt to push out the boundaries even further - so that a leading edge capability is maintained," she added.
"In this respect, any service that provides a single knowledge base is to be welcomed." LL is planning further surveys to identify what aspects of e-learning are of particular interest to those working in the industry to ensure that research meets the needs of its readers - so there will be further opportunities to win a prize!.
