Learning portal open to ASTD
Learning Light has provided unrestricted access to its members portal for the American Society for Training and Development
Members of the UK chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD)'s Global Network now have unrestricted access to Learning Light's 'members portal', which contains a wealth of specialist research, analysis and comment relating to the use of learning technologies in the workplace.
Under the terms of an agreement reached between Mark Pittaway, CEO of Learning Light (LL), a non-profit organisation seeking to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the use of learning technologies in the workplace, and Neil Lasher, President of the UK chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD)'s Global Network, the members of the ASTD's UK chapter are to receive complementary access to the LL members' portal for 12 months.
The LL members' portal contains a wealth of research, analysis and comment relating to the use of learning technologies in the workplace.
Most of this material has been specially commissioned by, and developed for, LL members.
Lasher commented: "It is important, for the future wellbeing of the learning industry in the UK, that all the relevant professional bodies, including the ASTD and LL, collaborate in promoting the benefits of learning to the wider world of business and commerce.
I'm delighted that our two organisations have been able to begin this process by agreeing to greater collaboration between ourselves, initially through the sharing of information - some of which is commercially sensitive - to the mutual benefit of all our members".
"LL's rapidly growing archive of research and other information provides access not only to the key principles on which e-learning and its related technologies are based but also to enlightening and thought-provoking works on such key topics as change, change management and organisational transformation, often using these technologies," explained Pittaway.
"Among the regular contributors to the members' portal are world-renowned 'e-learning gurus', including the USA-based Jay Cross and Josh Bersin.
"LL supplies learning technology knowledge and expertise to both buyers and suppliers of e-learning and related technologies," Pittaway added.
"Its rapidly growing wealth of knowledge and expertise can help anyone navigate their way through the complexities of procuring or marketing learning technologies".
