LEM Instruments has become the latest company to join the Power Quality Partnership, the UK group which is part of the Leonardo Power Quality Initiative.

LEM Instruments has become the latest company to join the Power Quality Partnership, the UK group which is part of the Leonardo Power Quality Initiative (LPQI), the European education and training programme for low-voltage (LV) electrical installation professionals LEM joins other leading industrial companies (Fluke (UK), Rhopoint Systems and MGE UPS Systems) to support this programme, which provides practical guidance on the identification, measurement and mitigation of power quality problems in LV installations

"LEM supports the concept of educating the market to enable end users to make informed choices about the equipment they buy and is proud to be associated with this leading education initiative on power quality", said Stephanie Horton, UK Engineering Sales Manager, LEM Power Products.

The cornerstone of this initiative is the Power Quality Application Guide, available in hard copy or downloadable from www.lpqi.org.

The guide is a consensus of views from experts across Europe, is written for those directly involved in the design, operation and maintenance of installations, and covers introductory material, troubleshooting and mitigation.

It has been adapted to form online e-learning modules, which can also be accessed from the website, and provides the basis for a series of free technical seminars on a host of power quality (PQ) issues including earthing, availability, measurement and solutions.

For details of programmes and venues and to register visit http://www.cda.org.uk/PQP/pqp.htm.

As another part of the Leonardo Initiative, LEM is organising a series of seminars to educate and disseminate information on power quality.

These free seminars will help users to identify, monitor and resolve power quality problems in LV installations.

This knowledge can help to increase reliability and reduce costly downtime and the possibility of damage to equipment.

The seminars provide essential background information on power quality phenomena and the European and UK standards governing the distribution companies, along with practical advice on recognising and rectifying PQ problems.

The seminars will provide a good understanding of the basic concepts and theory behind the causes and effects of poor power quality and the solutions available, along with the opportunity to discuss problems and solutions with the presenters.

Next events: 19th October - Dublin 9th November - Doncaster 19th November - Leamington Spa Please contact LEM to book your place at a seminar and receive further information.
