Warehouse fitting for automotive parts

A LINPAC Storage Systems product story

LINPAC Storage Systems has fitted a second distribution centre for Commercial Body Fittings in the Midlands, UK, offering cantilever racking, pallet racking, Longspan shelving or Linspace shelving.

Commercial Body Fittings has once again turned to LINPAC Storage Systems to fit out their latest distribution centre for the Midlands area based in Coseley.

LINPAC completed a successful storage solution in Commercial Body Fittings new build warehouse at the company headquarters in Welwyn Garden City several years ago.

Consequently, Commercial Body's General Manager, Mark Negri, went straight to LINPAC for this project.

"They did a good job before so I knew we could rely on them for the best quality of service, products and aftercare," says Mr Negri.

"As we expected, they responded quickly to our brief and have provided us with a professionally designed, cost effective solution".

Turnover has increased rapidly for Commercial Body Fittings over the last five years and the company's expansion meant that it outgrew its Midlands based premises which were located in Tipton.

This prompted the move to a much larger property, a completely refurbished 54,000 sq ft unit on a four acre site in Coseley.

Within the new distribution centre the various body parts for lorries are stored according to their size and weight, on either cantilever racking, pallet racking, Longspan shelving or Linspace shelving.

Cantilever racking, which is ideal for unpalletised longer length goods, has been installed down one side of the distribution centre.

It is used to store aluminium sideguard rails, plywood door panels and anti-slip flooring.

Bulk, palletised stock is held in LINPAC's adjustable, wide aisle pallet racking.

There are over 1,000 locations which are all equipped with wooden decking to accept different sized pallets.

Storage is available on six levels to make full use of the height of the building.

Sturdy column guards help to protect the base of each upright from accidental damage and a safety cage has been installed at the back of the racking where it runs adjacent to a pedestrian area.

The two shelving systems are positioned close to the packing area of the distribution centre.

Small, heavy items such as sealants are stored on bays of robust Longspan shelving whilst lighter items are housed on versatile Linspace shelving.
