Decentralised frequency inverter has many uses

A Lenze product story

Inverters with IP65 enclosure that suits terminal box or wall mounting is ideal for decentralised drive tasks including fans, HVAC, process machinery, pumps and material handling.

IP65 Decentralised frequency inverter Matching the high performance of the 8200 vector, the Lenze motec inverters with IP65 enclosure suit terminal box or wall mounting.

Now available from 0.25 to 7.5kW, motec saves panel space, cable and hardware costs plus installation time.

Its capabilities make the motec suitable for a wide range of applications including fans, HVAC, process machinery, pumps and material handling.

Ideal for decentralised drive tasks - the rugged 8200 motec range of frequency inverters can provide you with the drive tailored to meet the individual requirements of your application.

The option to purchase these inverters mounted on Lenze geared motors or three phase AC motors and ready to run will reduce the time and money spent on machine building.

Not only can the motec be assembled to a motor and mounted in any orientation, therefore offering a decentralised solution saving cabling and installation costs, it can also be wall mounted up to 2m away from the motor and still comply with EMC limits.

Its power range is 0.25 to 0.37kW from a single phase supply and 0.55 to 7.5kW with three phase supply.

The motec features dynamic braking, when the motor is behaving as a generator, during deceleration where the energy is fed back into the inverter causing the DC bus voltage to rise.

Above a certain threshold the voltage is switched across a resistor to dissipate this energy as heat.

By doing this, very fast braking can be achieved.

Externally mounted IP65 enclosed braking resistors are available.

Operation of the inverter is via menus selected using a hand-held keypad with programming cable.

Alternatively a PC can be used for operation in conjunction with the user-friendly "Global Drive Control" parameter setting/operating software.

Status displays (2 LEDs) support local diagnostics and useful status information can be accessed via the keypad or PC.

The copying of parameter settings (also performed using a keypad or PC) is particularly useful when commissioning plants with a number of drives.

The option to mount the motec on the machine frame - separate from the motor - optimises accessibility during local operation and diagnostics.

Power supply is isolated from the drive electronics via plug contacts.

Just four screws have to be loosened should servicing be required.

The heatsink can then be removed from the carrier housing, along with the electronics, and replaced in a matter of seconds leaving all the power an control connections untouched.

For a 'total system' Lenze offer the starttec (please see our article titled 'Motor starter supports distributed control') for fixed speed distributed drives and the 8200 motec frequency inverter for variable speed drives together with an extensive geared motor range.

Such a reliable and flexible drive system allows the material handling application to run efficiently.
