Multi-axis servo system has more
functionality
A high performance multi-axis servo system delivering currents from 4 to 64A has been expanded with extra functionality for safe standstill and application specific software.

Low cost servo systems replace variable drives
The availability of intelligent, low cost servo systems means that servo technology is being employed on machines which were once the preserve of mechanical or inverter variable speed drives.
ECS is a range of six servo drives for outputs up to 64A per axis.
A central power supply module saves panel space and is easily linked by dc bus to the axis drives without additional components such as fuses.
Therefore purchase costs for the total drive system are reduced and cabling times are shorter.
The ECS drives now have an integrated 'safe torque off' function to EN954-1, category 3.
This is also known as safe-standstill, a state where the machine cannot be accidentally powered up.
Once again, the feature saves external components and panel space.
An additional advantage is that the plant can be restarted synchronously without delay after a stop.
New optional pre-configured software that is application specific is now available for the ECS.
Examples are positioning, co-ordinated multi-axis motion and electronic cam.
It is possible to program these drive using the familiar PLC languages of IEC 61131-3.
A typical machine scenario for the ECS system would be found in packaging, filling, material handling or plastic forming machinery.
Some of the motion control tasks would be executed in a central PC / PLC or Soft PLC.
Remaining application specific motion tasks would be done in the ECS drives, for example controlling a positioning profile from an on-board library of up to 15 different profiles.
High speed and precise performance is achieved with two CAN ports, and lower level communication, for example to HMI ' s, is by Lenze system bus.
In addition customers can add optional communication modules to match factory systems as PROFIBUS, DeviceNet.
The ECS servo system is optimally matched to the Lenze MCS synchronous motors which in turn can be combined with ranges of planetary, helical and bevel gearboxes.
The Lenze ETC motion controller is ideal for handling up to 12 servo axes. Request a free brochure from Lenze ...
