Northwest Coatings will be exhibiting a wide range of its high-performance UV/EB and water-based adhesives and coatings for printing, packaging and industrial markets at Labelexpo.

Northwest Coatings manufactures high-performance UV/EB and water-based adhesives and coatings for printing, packaging, and industrial markets, and offers excellent service and reliability either for standard products or for unique custom formulations The company provides outstanding performance, reliability, service, and quality - with an in-depth understanding of process applications it uses technical expertise to develop solutions for tough challenges

Standard UV/EB and water-based products produced by Northwest Coatings include: laminating adhesives; pressure sensitive adhesives; variety of special performance coatings (such as chemical resistant, controlled cof, stampable, special effects, and laser, thermal, and direct thermal imprintable matte finishes).

Some of the custom developed products successfully marketed by Northwest Coatings include UV/EB products as follows: high-speed, low-cost gloss topcoat (this product matches or exceeds the chemical and water resistance of traditional low-speed resistant coatings); highly weatherable topcoat (this product is used on bumper stickers and other products where outdoor weatherability (non yellowing ) of the coating is required) - this coating also exhibits excellent adhesion to a number of substrates; cold foil adhesive (excellent adhesive for cure through cold foil); laminating adhesives (excellent range of laminating adhesives from low-cost to highly specialised); tactile feel coatings (includes raised image and softfeel (screen applied)); thermal/laser imprintable coatings (excellent receptivity with a wide variety of ribbons and laser printers); pearlescent coatings - excellent consistency over time - with low to no settling of pigment); dry erase coatings (coatings that are used on various substrates to provide an eraseable surface); UV PSAs (pressure-sensitive adhesives for bonding various substrates or for creating specialized label constructions in combination with release coatings); UV release coatings (used for making liners or pattern release for specialized constructions); highly imprintable coatings (coatings that can be further imprinted with UV, water base or litho ink or that can be foil stamped); highly chemical resistant coatings (coatings have been developed for resistance to battery acid, strong bases, alcohols, and other strong chemicals); highly scuff resistant coatings (the company has developed coatings that have exceeded 10,000 face to face Sutherland rubs); and several of these products can be adapted for other applications as well.

Water base products include: heat resistant coatings (water base coatings that can withstand 450F and higher); high clarity foil primers (print receptive primers that are receptive to litho, water base, UV curable, and solvent base ink); two part water base laminating adhesives (used for making a permanent bond between various films and paper products); pearl coatings (used for creating special effects especially on high end labels and cartons); highly resistant catalysed water base coatings (water base coatings that are resistant to iodine, liquors, water, various household cleaners, or other chemicals); water base cohesives (these can either be latex based or synthetic -a cohesive is defined as a material which only adheres to itself); controlled COF Topcoats (used for bags and labels where slip is an issue including spiral wound labels and non skid applications); moisture resistant/freezer resistant coatings (used on cartons and labels that will be exposed to refrigeration); FDA compliant topcoats/adhesives (topcoats which need direct or indirect FDA compliance); primers for other synthetic stocks (the company has developed a number of UV and water base primers to be applied to synthetic stocks); other primers (primers that can also serve as topcoats that are foil stampable and UV coatable); and several of these coatings, adhesives, and primers can be modified for other application methods as well.
