Phytochemical Reference Standards Now Available
Over 2500 high purity ChromaDex phytochemical - or herbal - reference standards are now available exclusively from LGC Promochem throughout Europe.
Earlier this year, a licence was issued to Tm Bioscience, a Canadian DNA-based diagnostics company.
Suzanne Smith, Group Legal Adviser and Company Secretary at LGC said: "LGC is delighted to have issued this latest licence to EPIDAUROS Biotechnologie AG.
There is tremendous growth in this sector with several companies beginning to offer pharmacogenetic services and products, especially those which include CYP2D6*4.
LGC is licensing the leading providers of genotyping services, testing kits and bio-chip manufacturers as well as pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide.
We are also able to license companies providing in-house testing." Dr Paul Debenham, Director of Life Sciences at LGC, said: "Now that it is possible to take into account how individuals differ in their ability to respond to various prescribed medications, the concept of personalised medicine is internationally accepted as the way forward to avoid serious adverse drug reactions.
Interest in this field is rapidly growing and LGC is experiencing a significant number of enquiries from companies in the drug discovery and pharmaceutical sectors in CYP2D6*4 test.
We are therefore particularly pleased to be able to make this technology available under licence on a worldwide scale or through a CYP2D6*4 testing service at LGC in the UK." LGC's first non-exclusive CYP2D6*4 licence was issued to Orchid BioSciences Inc in June 2002 for North America, closely followed by another to a European company.
LGC is currently in discussions with other companies as its licensing business continues to expand.
