Top manufacturing companies wish list for next generation blackberry applications
UK manufacturing companies want access to CRM, enterprise databases and peripheral hardware devices for their 'next generation' BlackBerry devices according to a survey conducted on behalf of leading networking and mobile integration specialist, LAN 2 LAN Nearly a third of manufacturing businesses (31 per cent) questioned by market research consultancy Vanson Bourne, put CRM and field-force automation as their highest priority when asked about current and future use of BlackBerry devices

The next most important BlackBerry applications manufacturers desired (with 22 per cent of respondents each) were mobile access to enterprise databases and hardware devices - such as barcode scanners.
This figure was significantly higher than in other vertical sectors - such as financial services.
Andy Tipton, head of the Mobile Data Division at LAN 2 LAN explains, "The survey demonstrates that mobile CRM tools are a logical extension to the BlackBerry platform".
"They enable field staff to have access to and update information at all times".
"This allows them to spend more time in the field, and less time relaying information".
"The survey also underlines that manufacturers will be early adopters of mobile ERP systems".
The larger the business, the more likely the take-up of BlackBerry use with nearly 80 per cent of larger corporates (over 3,000 staff) being current users, compared with just under 70 per cent adoption for companies with less than 3,000 personnel.
