Linde spotlights application of industrial gases

A Linde Gas product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 20, 2008

The Linde Group will be at EuroBLECH 2008, the 20th International Sheet Metalworking Technology Exhibition in Hanover, Germany, (21-25 October) showcasing industrial gases in various processes.

Industrial gases play a major role in a variety of processes such as welding, cutting and surface treatment.

Linde representatives will be on hand to inform visitors about various technologies at booth D55 in hall 13.

Corgon/Cronigon are solutions for low-energy welding and modern electric arc processes.

In electric arc welding Linde's focus is on new low-energy processes.

An advantage of this is evident when working with thin sheet metal as the reduced application of welding energy minimises the amount of distortion.

Lasgon H is a special laser welding process gas, developed for laser welding applications for stainless steel components such as pipes, sensor casings, cabinets and so on.

Compared to pure noble gases, Lasgon H allows higher welding speeds and produces less oxide build-up, resulting in a clean, shiny weld surface.

With Cryoclean snow, liquid carbon dioxide is turned into a firm CO2 'snow' through expansion in a nozzle.

The snow created is significantly more efficient in the cleaning of hot metal surfaces as it eliminates the vapour layer that would be created if a liquid gas was blasted onto a heated metal surface.

Another advantage is the simplicity of automating this process through the use of robots.

For this reason it has become an established technique in ready-for-finish cleaning and preparatory work - for example, prior to paintwork, or before soldering and welding.

Seccura enables Linde to remotely and accurately monitor its customers' gas reserves and efficiently supply them with more gas when required.

Benefits to customers include accuracy of supply, reduction in time resources, increased cost savings and constant access to up-to-date telemetry data.

They also have the added benefit of being able to operate minimal stock levels through an efficient just-in-time ordering and delivery system.

Accura is a web-based system which allows customers to better manage their cylinder gases, particularly in a metalworking scenario.

Each gas cylinder is identified by its own barcode and through the Accura portal, customers can get an up-to-date view and detailed information about their gas consumption and cylinder status.

This helps the customer improve cost awareness, locate lost or hazardous cylinders, improve cylinder utilisation and increase productivity through reduced administration.
