Upgrade 2D CAD modelling to 3D for GBP 1,500
Part modelling and CAD software provide a low cost, protected upgrade route for companies looking to migrate from 2D to 3D solid modelling - at a 'launch' price of GBP 15,000 at EMO.
At EMO 2007, Alphacam will emphasise its 'three steps to manufacturing' concept by showing its Part Modeller CAD software.
The software is designed to provide a low cost, protected upgrade route for companies looking to migrate from 2D to 3D solid modelling, Alphacam's Part Modeller delivers around 80% of the functionality of premium design software packages at less than 20% of their cost.
Offered at a 'launch price' of GBP 1,500, the Windows XP and Vista-compliant software has a wide range of advanced geometry creation tools, as well as direct data import from SolidWorks, Solid Edge and popular DWG, STEP and IGES formats.
Users can easily extract any required components from imported assemblies for subsequent modification, updating or manipulation.
Using intuitive CAD tools, the Part Modeller allows users to create and store libraries of company-standard component profiles, along with parametrically-driven products and assemblies.
New members of product families can be generated in moments, simply by entering numerical values within a Microsoft Excel - or equivalent - spreadsheet.
Full associativity is retained between components within the structure, ensuring that individual parts and associated machining toolpaths are updated as new parametric values are specified.
The icon-driven modeller provides seamless integration with Alphacam's programming software, plus data output in SolidWorks, Solid Edge, STEP, IGES and DWG formats.
It also supports STL output for rapid prototyping operations and will produce fully dimensioned, technical diagrams and assembly drawings.
"The new Part Modeller is an integral part of our 'three steps to manufacturing' concept," explained Alphacam's marketing manager, Emma Tyreman.
"It is an easy-to-use CAD solution that provides the foundation for users to create accurate toolpaths and CNC code at the touch of a button - enabling them to significantly cut their design to manufacturing lead times.
This, along with the throughput and machining accuracy benefits provided by our programming software, are keys to success in today's ultra-competitive metalworking arena".
