Premium gas-shielded, flux-cored wire line expands with two new wires for fracture-critical heavy fabrication - wires are made to tight manufacturing tolerances, deliver high arc stability.

The Lincoln Electric Company introduces two new UltraCore gas-shielded, flux-cored wires for mild steel welding in the pressure vessel, offshore and shipbuilding, bridge and heavy equipment industries These two new AWS E71T-12 wires include economical UltraCore 712C and smooth-running UltraCore 712A80

UltraCore 712C is for tank and shipbuilding applications using straight CO2.

712C is a versatile E71T-12 wire exhibiting consistently high impact values regardless of the notch location in the weld joint.

Tensiles are capped at 90ksi (ksi = 1000 lb/in2 - Ed) for excellent crack resistance.

UltraCore 712A80 is Lincoln's best-running E71T-12 with superior arc characteristics and high impacts in a variety of applications, such as offshore, tank and pressure-vessel fabrication.

Robust impact values regardless of the notch location in the joint make this a favorite for designers who require consistently high impacts.

UltraCore premium gas-shielded wires were introduced to the market early in 2005.

Each is specifically designed to deliver outstanding welding performance for use with a particular shielding gas mix, group of welding positions or industrial applications.

In manufacturing, UltraCore's extremely tight tolerances on chemical composition, diameter and other parameters produce unparalleled performance consistency for reliable mechanical properties and arc action you can depend on from weld to weld.

UltraCore wires feature Lincoln's new ProTech packaging, which minimizes moisture and increases resistance to cracking and gas tracking.

AWS E71T-12 wires are tri-classified - also meeting AWS T-9 and T-1 requirements.

However, T-12 wires differ in relation to tensile strength.

T-12 wires are required to pass tensile strength testing in a specific range of 70-90ksi.

In many applications, a T-12 wire can be substituted for a T-9 or T-1 wire to reduce the tendency for weld cracking as well as to obtain reduced hardness.

T-12 wires are generally better suited to deliver better impacts for low temperature or fracture critical applications.

T-12 electrodes also meet the lower manganese level requirements of the A-1 analysis group in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

Previously offered to fabricators earlier this year: * UltraCore 71A75 Dual - a general-purpose wire that can be used with either straight CO2 or mixed gases.

71A75 Dual delivers a stable arc, low spatter and a smooth bead for general applications.

* UltraCore 71A85 - designed for high argon mixed gases welding in shipbuilding and structural fabrication.

It is Lincoln's best-running E71T-1 for high-argon gas blends with superior arc stability and fast-freezing slag for easy out-of-position welding, even with 1/16in diameter wire.

UltraCore 71C - For economy welding with straight CO2 shielding gas in shipbuilding and barge applications.

71C delivers superior arc characteristics for single and multi-pass welds.

It produces fast-freezing slag for easy out-of-position welding down to 1/16in diameter.

Scheduled for worldwide availability soon: * UltraCore 712A80-H - Designed to achieve low hydrogen levels for the toughest applications in heavy equipment, offshore and pressure-vessel fabrications.

It is ideal for all-position, single or multi-pass welding on heavy sections where hydrogen-induced cracking is a concern.

With 712A80-H, the need for preheating is potentially reduced.

All UltraCore wires are manufactured under a quality system certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 environmental standards.

* About Lincoln Electric - The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
