Welding equipment maker honors employees

International welding equipment manufacturer has recognized its individual employees for their outstanding contributions at a recent US event - the 58th to-date.

For the 58th year in a row, Lincoln Electric recognized individual employees for their outstanding contributions at a US company-wide meeting in December 2006 Lincoln's chairman and CEO John M Stropki recognized nine individuals at the company's annual year-end review meeting, which had more than 3,000 employees in attendance either on site or via closed circuit television

Lincoln Electric has been recognizing employees in this fashion since 1948.

The employees who received awards for their outstanding contributions in 2006 include the following.

* David J Bender and Eric R.

Snyder - members of the Product Development Core Team responsible for the engine driven product line, including the Vantage.

The internationally sold Vantage line, with unique features that have made it popular in the construction industry, has seen incremental revenue of US$24 million.

Additionally, there has been a 92% sales increase for the 300A version, and a 66% increase in sales of the 400A model.

* David F Kleinhaus - an Accu-Trak drum operator in the Filler Rod Department at Lincoln Electric's Mentor, Ohio, facility.

Kleinhaus showed exemplary leadership in safety and training, working the entire year without an EHS incident.

He showed a high-level of dedication to production, having an overall production efficiency of 182% for the year.

* James L Lozar - a maintenance group leader in the Flux and Stick Electrode Manufacturing Department.

Lozar initiated more than 30 new preventative maintenance procedures, created and implemented new suggestions that led to a total savings of more than US$26,400, and assisted in the start-up of a new flux manufacturing facility in Rouen, France.

* Jeffery S Limber - a transformer assembler in the Large Transformer Welder Department.

Limber helped realize substantial labor cost reduction by assisting in the optimization of transformer builds.

He also helped create an additional transformer work center, in response to increased need following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Additionally, his suggestions through the year resulted in material savings of over US$24,000.

* Lawrence N Buehner - an employee in the Lead and Harness area, responsible for assembling control cables.

Buehner maintained high productivity while also achieving perfect quality.

He also assisted starting up the control cable assembly area at the Torreon, Mexico, facility and submitted suggestions that led to savings of over US$4,500.

* Matthew S Flemming - the segment manager for Construction and Rental Sales.

Flemming, along with his team, has been responsible for tremendous increases in sales and contracts.

By promoting Lincoln Electric's Vantage line, V350 Inverter racks, Severe Duty Engine Drives and process solutions, he helped realize a record-breaking US$30 million in rental and contractor sales, achieving a 58% increase over 2005.

* Melissa C Latessa - a nozzle assembler in the Wire Feeder and Accessory Department.

Latessa trained 16 fellow employees in different work centers in her area, while maintaining high production, and perfect quality.

She also led her department's ISO 14001 review and taught the ISO program to new hires.

* Rick A Davidson - the production group leader in the Cut-Off Department of the Euclid, Ohio, Consumable Division.

He was a leader in several Six Sigma projects in his area and department, resulting in EHS improvements and cost reductions.

Davidson also led his team to improved yields, reducing scrap by 8%, resulting in an US$18,900 savings.
