Lincoln MMA electrode flux gives easier striking
Lincoln Electric said that its improved flux coating on 'stick electrodes gives easier striking, increased arc control and exceptional slag conditions for out-of-position arc welding.
The Lincoln Electric Company has re-engineered its Excalibur 7018 stick (MMA - manual metal arc) low hydrogen electrode.
The 7018's flux coating allows for easier striking and re-striking with a more stable arc and exceptional slag control, which is especially beneficial for out-of-position welding, said Lincoln.
Lincoln Electric's Excalibur stick electrode line offers several features that separate it from other brands.
It provides a clean weld, consistent starting, quick puddle creation and no starting porosity.
The novel slag system results in great weld puddle (or weld pool) control and clarity.
Coating burn-off is uniform and ideal for jobs requiring steep rod angles on out-of-position welds.
Excellent tie-in prevents undercutting, which reduces grinding and slag inclusions for higher quality welds, claimed Lincoln.
Typical applications of tthe 7018 include structural steel, bridges and pipe, as well as fittings and tie-ins in the petrochemical and power generation industries.
Excalibur stick electrode allows all-position welding of mild steels and some high strength, low alloy steels.
It also tolerates steels with poor weldability, such as high sulphur and high silicon steels.
* High weld deposition rates - high deposition rates, low spatter levels, easy slag removal and excellent tie-ins ensure consistent performance over other brands, said Lincoln to manufacturingtalk.com.
All Excalibur products are manufactured to ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.
Excalibur also conforms to AWS, ASME, ABS, Lloyds, DNV, BV, GL and CSA specifications.
The re-engineered Excalibur 7018 and the entire line of stick electrodes are featured in Lincoln Electric's new Excalibur catalogue.
* About Lincoln Electric - The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, plasma-arc and oxy-fuel gas cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
