Lifting Solutions of Barnsley is adding to its growing industry reputation by strengthening its customer offering to include stainless steel wire swaged products.
Handling/lifting supplier adds on machine shop
Supplier of lifting, handling and cranage equipment has added on its own machine shop to produce its own pins, bushes, pulleys, gear blanks and pinion shafts.
The spectacular brand dressing consists of two banners covering 8200m2 of the Dome's roof, and is thought to be the largest building wrap ever constructed in Europe.
40 per cent larger that the temporary poster site erected on the facade of Selfridges department store on Oxford Street in 2000, the banners are clearly visible to passengers on flights into London's Heathrow and City airports.
Lifting Solutions has been working on the mammoth structure for many months; the company has supplied over 5km of steel wire rope in a range of diameters - 12mm, 16mm and 19mm.
Jonathan Moorhouse, managing director of Lifting Solutions, says: "We weren't even able to tell our family when we worked on last year's Olympic Games opening and closing ceremony, and this has been quite a similar job in terms of confidentiality.
"Once again it shows that a local engineering company can do well on the major stage with the right attitude, approach and quality of workmanship.
"We're hoping, of course, that London gets the games, as our experience and expertise as used in Athens for the 2004 games could well be called upon again if there's any lifting to be done in the 2012 opening and closing ceremonies".
If London were to host the 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games, the Dome would host basketball and gymnastics, and is one of the venues that the IOC Commission will visit during its four-day trip to the city.
