Eddy current measurements are consistently precise

A Lion Precision product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Mar 11, 2003

The first of a series of eddy current measurement systems' linear voltage and current outputs provide precision measurement throughout a probe's calibrated range.

Lion Precision's new Inductive division has released it's first in a series of new eddy current measurement systems, the ECL100.

The ECL100 driver's linear voltage and current outputs provide precision measurement throughout a probe's calibrated range.

A new, extremely low noise circuit design yields a static resolution of 0.004% of full scale output.

The ECL100 features a unique, multi-color LED probe position indicator and local/remote zeroing capability to facilitate easy installation and setup.

The driver is packaged in a small DIN rail mountable, shielded enclosure with screw terminal connections.

The ECL100 is available with Lion Precision Inductive's new Modular Inductive Probes, including 3mm, 5mm, 8mm and 12mm sizes.

18mm, 25mm, 38mm and 50mm probes are planned.

Specifications (based on Aluminum target) include: * Range: Probe Dependent.

* Frequency Response: up to 80kHz (selectable).

* Resolution: 0.004%FS.

* Non-linearity: +/-0.25%FS.

* Thermal Coefficient: +/-0.04%FS/degC.

* Output: 0-10VDC and 0-20mA.

* Environmental Rating: Probes IP-67, Driver IP40 (CE pending).

* Input Power: +12 to +24VDC (130mA at 15VDC).

* Physical Size: H-75mm/2.95in, W-22.5mm/0.89in, D-107.5mm / 4.23in.

The ECL100 will be demonstrated at Sensors Expo in Chicago in June at the Lion Precision booth (#1114).
