Optical calibration turnround time and costs cut
Investment in new test equipment has enabled a company to expand its existing optical calibration capabilities and drastically cut down calibration turnaround times and reduce calibration costs.
Online access to calibration progress
A web based tool from Livingston allows contract calibration customers access to equipment status, exposure reports, ability to raise collections on line and total asset management.
Its target 5-day turn-around time is met in 99% of cases and the average calibration time is just 4.2 days.
Livingston estimates that the industry average lies in the region of 10-14 days.
The importance of minimising calibration periods is paramount to companies who depend heavily on their test equipment.
With a direct impact to their bottom line, longer turn-around times cost money due to delayed projects and the need to purchase or rent secondary test equipment.
"A decade ago it was thought impossible to reduce turn-around times to these levels," said Demetrios Perios, Calibration Laboratory Manager at Livingston.
"But with the technological advancements of today it's a reality and we will continue to strive towards even faster service".
A major part of Livingston's fast calibration service can be attributed to its proprietary web-based system, which dramatically relieves the burden of database management and administration traditionally associated with calibration management.
Reminders, call-ins and collections are all managed via the live password-protected site and customers can also access their work-in-progress reports and certificates online.
This all equates to less time spent managing the administration, which in turn reduces the calibration process.
Livingston uses the system themselves to manage their own extensive test and measurement equipment inventory, the largest in Europe.
Livingston offers calibration services to a wide variety of industries including telecommunications and RF/microwave but also industrial and general purpose test equipment.
More recently, in response to increasing demand, Livingston has expanded its in-house optical calibration capabilities.
Livingston is fully accredited and offers BS EN ISO/IEC 17025-2000 and 9001:2000 accreditation and can also provide UKAS certification on request.
