Customer demand increases power monitoring by 37%

A Livingston UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 17, 2003

Significant increase in demand for power monitor products is a direct result of the Climate Change Levy, a commitment made by developed countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2%.

Livingston UK has increased its Power Quality inventory by 37% to meet customer demand.

This significant increase in demand, and subsequent investment, in its power monitoring product range is a direct result of the Climate Change Levy, a commitment made by developed countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% to below 1990 levels over the period 2008-2012.

The UK has also set itself a domestic objective to achieve a 20% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by the year 2010.

As companies undertake compliance projects to avoid hefty surcharges they are turning to Livingston for test equipment to help develop detailed energy surveys and monitor power quality, reliability and suitability.

"The Climate Change Levy is just one reason why companies should monitor power quality," said Geoff Kempster, Inventory Manager for Livingston UK.

"Poor power quality also affects uptime and can cause computers and production lines to shut down incurring high costs in terms of repair, clean-up and lost production or service".

To help those responsible for industrial and commercial site power supplies understand the basics of power quality, Livingston has developed two independent technical brochures.

Managing Your Power Quality and Electrical Power Management are designed to provide an understanding towards diagnosis of poor power quality, help identify its causes and reduce future risks.
