Affordable CMM also reports metrology results
Affordable, high accuracy co-ordinate measuring machine provides straightforward inspection solutions for customers requiring quick, accurate measurement of parts and reporting of the results.
Affordable, high accuracy measuring solutions from LK A new, co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) has been launched by LK Group to provide affordable access to the manufacturer's family of high accuracy metrology equipment.
Called Ascent, the range provides straightforward inspection solutions for customers requiring quick, accurate measurement of their components and reporting of the results, but who are not looking to make heavy investments in capital equipment.
LK has traditionally operated as a solution provider at the mid to top end of the CMM market.
It has a strong, loyal customer base, which includes some of the world's leading blue chip engineering and manufacturing companies.
The Ascent is the first machine designed to bring this technology and metrology expertise to the attention of a much wider audience.
"The metrology solutions that LK provides have always had a reputation for innovation and reliability," commented Andy Heath, LK's Hardware Product Marketing engineer.
"That is what we have drawn on and built into the Ascent.
Everything from the drive units and air bearings to the controller and software is designed to make the machine a valuable, reliable and dependable tool." A flexible and solid CMM platform available in three sizes and with three probing options, the Ascent is controlled by the same technology found on LK's mid range machines.
It also incorporates RSM, a monitoring and diagnostics tool designed to be used as an advanced, pre-emptive service capability, predicting machine wear and providing the customer with valuable data on usage and production.
This allows engineers and managers the chance to gain real world insight into their machine utilisation and processes.
Driven by its own machine-specific software, the Ascent draws on key modules from LK's leading, high performance Camio Studio software platform.
Camio Studio Ascent maintains the LK commitment to the DMIS standard, offering users the ability to program their inspection routines easily and quickly, even directly from their own CAD data, then report on it with advanced, comprehensive reporting features.
Having a high specification and performance for machines in this class, the machine is a significant entrant to the entry-level CMM market - a point not lost on Heath: "The Ascent combines all of the knowledge and expertise that we have gained in some of the world's most demanding applications and delivers it to customers that are looking for a budget-focussed inspection solution.
We believe that in Ascent we have a machine that will attract a lot of interest.".
